About the Practice
Scope of Practice:
Dr. Fong provides a full spectrum of family medicine services, that is, medical services for patients of all age groups. (He does not, however, see children under six.) His patients range from the geriatric elderly with many complicated medical problems to males and females young and old. Being a generalist doctor, he can take most any problem patients present with and devise the appropriate actions to take, actions which may sometimes involve a referral to an appropriate specialty. He does routine physicals and routine gynecological checkups, and he takes an interest in musculoskeletal problems.
Hospital Care:
Being on active medical staff at John Muir Walnut Creek Hospital, Dr. Fong admits and cares for his patients who have to go into the hospital. Even when a patient of his is not admitted under him but under a different doctor for say, surgery, when requested Dr. Fong will still go to the hospital to help care for the patient during the hospital stay.
Nursing Homes:
Dr. Fong goes to the four nursing homes in Walnut Creek (Ygnacio Care, San Marco, Manor Care Rossmoor Parkway, and Manor Care Tice Valley Blvd.) to care for his patients who go there.
Extended Hours:
To help ensure continuity of care for his patients, Dr. Fong has extended hours on Saturday mornings.
After Hours:
If it's a life threatening emergency, you should call 911 and go to the nearest hospital. For discussion of non-life threatening but urgent matters that cannot wait until regular office hours, Dr. Fong can be reached by his patients after hours. The exception is some Sundays and when he is out of town; at those times he signs out to one of several doctors for office matters and to the Muir Hospitalist Group doctors for hospital matters. If you have a non-life threatening but urgent matter after hours, please call the office at 934-2333 for instructions on how to reach Dr. Fong or the covering doctors.
Size of Office:
To maintain a personalized style of practice, Dr. Fong's has a small office staff.
